I'm not even sure what that phrase means--"while in the care, custody and control of the father." Does that mean that dad CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL AMERSON had sole legal custody of this infant, who was scarcely more than a newborn? If so, how did he get custody and who gave it to him?
Notice there isn't one word about a mother in this home.

MT. PLEASANT, TX (KLTV) - According to the Titus County Sheriff's Department, Child Protective Services contacted them on Friday about a 10-week-old infant who was at the Titus Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant. The child was reportedly being treated for trauma to the brain.
Sheriff's investigators immediately launched an investigation and learned that the child would be flown to Children's Medical Center in Dallas for treatment.
Investigators interviewed the child's father, and determined that the child was injured while in the care, custody and control of the father. They have not released the details of the child's injury and how it occurred. However, they do say that there an affidavit of probable cause was presented to Justice of the Peace Kay McNutt for a warrant.
The affidavit and complaint was presented to NcNutt who issued a warrant for the arrest of the father, Christopher Michael Amerson, 22, of Mount Pleasant for injury to a child.
Amerson was arrested and placed in the Titus County Jail on the warrant and charged with injury to a child, a second degree felony.
The Sheriff's Department says an individual adjudged guilty of a 2nd degree felony shall be punished by imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for any term of not more than 20 years or less than 2 years in addition to being assessed a fine of any amount not to exceed $10,000.
