Dad accused of making meth in child's bedroom (Gold Hill, North Carolina)

Notice that there is a no mention of a mother in this home. I suspect if there was one, she would have been charged as well. What happened to Mom? Why were these kids in the care of this meth head?

Dad is identified as WESLEY EUGENE LINKER.

GOLD HILL — Deputies tacked on child abuse charges for a Gold Hill man accused of making methamphetamine in his 10-year-old child’s bedroom.

Wesley Eugene Linker, 36, was arrested on July 27 after authorities found two one-pot meth labs in the bedroom of his home on Hill Road.

The 10-year-old was placed into a family member’s custody.

On Friday, deputies charged Linker with misdemeanor general child abuse and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He was initially charged with two counts of felony trafficking meth and felony manufacturing meth.

Linker received an additional $10,000 bond, $310,000 total.

He remained in Rowan County jail Monday morning.

According to arrest warrants, authorities found two meth labs in the home and a hydrogen chloride gas generator in a “location that was frequently used and slept in by” the child.

Officers said they also found 300 grams, or 10.58 ounces, of liquid meth in the bedroom.

The report said the meth labs were found during the execution of a search warrant.
