Dad accused of inflicting life-threatening injuries on a 6-week-old infant, but granted bail anyway (Spring Garden, Canada)

Notice that this piece of sh** who abused a newborn was released to his parents' care, even though he's 37. Why? Notice that there is no mention of the baby's mother anywhere. I doubt this dude was married or even living with the mother....

So who gave this savage animal access to a newborn and why?

Dad is identifed as PHILIP JASON BOWDEN.

The man accused of abusing his six-week old child is out of jail on $2,000 bail.

Philip Jason Bowden was arrested earlier this week after a baby was brought to the IWK with life threatening injuries.

The thirty-seven-year-old covered his face with a book when he arrived at Spring Garden Provincial Court Friday, and spent much of the hearing with his hands in his lap, staring at the floor.

Defense Attorney Lyle Howe represented Bowden and describes his client's state of mind.

"He did testify at his bail hearing, he seems to be OK in the sense that he's able to communicate," he says. "Obviously the family is having a rough time right now and they'd certainly want you to respect their privacy. They're having a troubled time."

Howe explains the judge's decision.

"Everybody that's accused of an offence, it's just that, it's an accusation. So they're entitled to the presumption of innocence," says Howe. "Not only entitled to presumption of innocence, he's entitled to reasonable bail and that's what we put forward, we put forward a reasonable bail plan, so I'm happy to see that he got it."

Bowden was released into his parents care, and after it was over, Howe told him to give him a call.

"He needs to figure out what we're going to do in terms of trial," explains Howe. "I think they need to absorb the fact that he does get his release, some people don't get that, and I want him to take a day off and then get back in there with me so we can discuss what we're going to do going forward."

Some of the bail conditions are a ban on drinking alcohol and staying away from the IWK, but he will be allowed to work.

Bowden is expected to be back in court on Sept. 17 to make an election.
