PHOENIX - A Phoenix father is accused of attacking his two children and abusing three family pets after getting into an argument with his girlfriend.
Police arrested Visano Nelson on Thursday at his apartment near 7th Street and Bell Road.
According to police, Nelson got upset when his girlfriend, Brandi Lane, did not return home Thursday night.
He went into the bedroom of Lane’s son and woke up him and told him to call his mother. When the 16-year-old son took too long, police said Nelson punched the teenager in the face.
Nelson then told the boy and his 11-year-old sister to get out of the apartment. While they were leaving, police said Nelson head-butted the girl on her way out of the apartment.
Nelson is then accused of continuing his violent rampage by throwing a cage down a flight of stairs with three cats inside.
On Friday, Lane told ABC15 the children and pets were not seriously hurt during the attack.
Lane said Nelson had been drinking and she thinks that may have been why he acted violently.
Nelson faces assault and animal cruelty charges.
