Dad of dead 2-year-old baby charged with abusing girlfriend's kids (Taft, California)

Really, when it comes right down to it, scum is scum. Whether the kids share your DNA doesn't really make a whit of difference. An abuser is an abuser. And a handy punching bag is still a handy punching bag.

True, statistics suggest that biological fathers abuse less, but that's because the numbers of biological fathers with access to their children will necessarily include a disproportionately high number of nice, non-abusive, married fathers.

Biological fathers who are not nice and are abusive will not tend to stay for long in committed relationships But they will tend to develop serial girlfriends and access to a larger number of potential victims over time. Which can potentially include both "their" children (from both their previous and present relationships) and their girlfriend's children.

So it's not really any surprise that we see someone like dad JESSIE KEITH AMY having a dead two-month-old infant (that death is still under "investigation") and also be charged with abusing his girlfriend's two older kids.

Taft, Calif. — The father of a two-month old infant that died in Maricopa has been charged with child abuse in an unrelated case.

Jessie Keith Amy faces two counts of inflicting injury on a child in allegations involving two older children.

Amy is the father of two-month-old Airick Amy, who was found dead in a home on Cover Street in Maricopa on Sept. 28 after medical aid was summoned for a report of a child not breathing.

The older Amy was arrested and charged with causing injuries to two older children of Francine Williams, the mother of Airick.

Those victims are not related to Jessie Amy.

Amy was arraigned on Oct. 3 and is due back in court on Thursday.

He has pleaded not guilty to the child abuse charges.

Sheriff's homicide investigators began investigating Airick Amy's death when an autopsy performed on Sept. 29 raised suspicions about how the boy died.

The cause of Airick Amy's death has not been determined pending toxicological and tissue studies.
