Dad found guilty of injury to a child; threw 1-year-old son out of moving vehicle (Corpus Christi, Texas)

Dad GABRIEL SALAZAR has been found guilty of injury to a child. This is the putz who threw his son from a moving car, remember him? Reminds me of (custodial) dad CARLOS RICO, who choked and abandoned his son along a highway, also in Texas.

Read carefully, and you'll see that Daddy was no longer with the mother (Mom's reference to "my" apartment). Also note that Daddy was abusive to her, but Daddy got access anyway. Wonder if this was court-ordered visitation?

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Prosecutors said it was as if an 11-month-old child had been flung from a moving vehicle. A father found guilty of injury to his own child.

The child's 28-year-old father was found guilty of injury to a child. He was sentenced to five years in prison and 10 years probation.

But in this case the child wasn't flung from a car, the child, who was a little under a year old, was on a couch. And with was his father, who prosecutors say had a history of anger issues.

214th District Court Judge Jose Longoria reads the jury's decision: "count one we the jury find the defendant Gabriel Salazar guilty of the offense of injury to a child as alleged in the indictment."

The incident dates back to May 22, 2011, when Salazar testified that he was angry with the baby's mother, so he hit the child causing the child to fall from a couch.

During the punishment phase of the trial, Salazar's sister testified that her brother has anger issues because they were abandoned by their mother when Salazar was 5-years-old.

But before that testimony jurors heard from his son's mother, "he didn't want to leave my apartment. He got upset and he threw me down on the couch and the whole time I was just thinking I need to protect my baby."

Salazar's Sister Melissa Salazar says, "we all went through a lot, he's our only brother. He's considerate. He's hurt."

Salazar was found guilty of two counts of injury to a child. While the crime is punishable by up to 99 years prison, Salazar was eligible for probation.

The jury decided 5 years prison and ten years probation. He will be formally sentenced on Friday, September 16, 2011.
