Dad "allegedly" fires gun at process server, threatens to kill 5-year-old son in "custody dispute" (Tarkington, Texas)

Yet ANOTHER example of the out out-of-control Daddy Drama in this country. Dad RANDALL CROFT "allegedly" started firing a gun at a process servicer who was trying to serve him papers related to a child custody case. Daddy also threatens to kill his 5-year-old son, who is apparently in the home. (Which begs the question as to who gave this crazy nitwit access to this child.) An overnight police stakeout comes into play. Finally, Daddy surrenders. He has been charged with aggravated assault. And it looks like Mom may be getting a protective order. At least she has filed for one.

This is what father entitlement has given us, folks.

A process server trying to administer court papers related to a child custody case was reportedly fired upon by a Tarkington man, Randall Croft, for whom the papers were intended.

The incident, which began on Thursday evening, Aug. 18, resulted in an overnight police stakeout of the man’s home on CR 2314. During the verbal exchange between law enforcement and the Tarkington man, he allegedly threatened to shoot his 5-year-old child and himself.

In an effort to keep the situation from escalating to violence, a decision was made to watch the house overnight. The surveillance was conducted by Liberty County sheriff’s deputies and state troopers.

On Friday morning around dawn, a phone call was made to the house, asking the man to surrender.

Capt. Rex Evans with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said, “There was a tense moment at the gate when he came outside, but officers talked Mr. Croft into surrendering, and he was taken into custody.”

The child was placed in the care of his grandmother until his mother arrived from Austin.

Croft has been charged with Aggravated Assault and a protective order has been filed against him by his estranged wife, said Evans.

There were no injuries in the incident, except the county’s reputation.

“The process server said he would never again return to Liberty County,” said Evans.
