Mom of dead 17-month-old girl drops wrongful death lawsuit against custodial dad, ex-gal pal (Cedar Rapids, Iowa)

We've posted on this case before. Still no explanation as to how and why dad ZYRIAH SCHLITTER got "exclusive custody" of a child that he "allegedly" managed to murder in less than a month. Who's the judge behind this outrage? Anybody want to take credit?

CEDAR RAPIDS -The mother of a 17-month-old who died from head trauma last year is dropping her wrongful death lawsuit against the child’s father and his ex-girlfriend, who have been charged with first-degree murder in the toddler’s death.

Nicole King, mother of Kamryn Schlitter, who’s death was ruled a homicide, filed for dismissal without prejudice July 7 of a civil suit she filed earlier this year in Linn County District Court. The suit states all claims against a local daycare, Apple Kids Inc., and owner Lisa Burkle and former owner Kendran Imhoff are reserved.

Mark Liabo, King’s attorney, was unavailable for comment Tuesday. A secretary at his office said he would not be back until Friday.

Penny Galvin, a victim’s advocate for the Horizons Survivors Program, said King declined to comment regarding why she is dropping the suit.

King in the lawsuit accused Kamryn’s father Zyriah Schlitter, 24, of Cedar Rapids, and his ex-girlfriend Amy Parmer, 27, of Hiawatha, of “beating and abuse” that led to Kamryn’s death.

The lawsuit also accused the daycare of failing to report a bruise on Kamryn to the Iowa Department of Human Services.

Schlitter and Parmer, also charged with child endangerment resulting in death, had exclusive care and custody of Kamryn from March 1-21, 2010, and while at a daycare center on March 8 and March 15, workers noticed bruising to her face, according to the criminal complaint.

The complaint alleges Parmer and Schlitter either individually or jointly inflicted the fatal injuries to the victim, knowingly permitted the other co-defendant to abuse the victim and/or failed to protect the child from the other co-defendant.

A judge reduced a $500,000 bond to $100,000 last Friday for Parmer, which she paid Monday. Schlitter remains in the Linn County Jail under a $500,000 bond but he has asked for a bond review hearing.
