A Saudi police officer is facing trial after his ex-wife filmed him beating up his six-year-old son during a visit to his office, a newspaper reported on Saturday.
The woman said she had taken her son to see his father in the western town of Madina under a court order following their divorce two years ago.
“When my son saw his father, he refused to go to him…instead of treating him nicely, his father started to beat him up,” the unnamed woman said, quoted by the Arabic language daily Almadina.
“Police men who were at the office tried to stop him but he did not stop…so they called me in and I used my mobile phone to film him.”
The woman said she had submitted the film to court and human rights groups, accusing her husband of indulging in child violence.
