Dad arrested after 7-year-old son dies following "domestic dispute" (Vancouver, Canada)

Gotta love the Canadian gift for euphemism. A 7-year-old child dies as the result of a domestic "dispute"? UNNAMED DAD is the  arrested "disputer" (killer?) here.

Amazing how we can have a "killing" with no "killer"....

Father arrested after seven-year-old boy dies following domestic dispute

A homicide investigation is underway and a man is in custody after his seven-yearold son died of serious injuries in Campbell River early Wednesday.

The child died shortly after arriving at the hospital, police said. A call to paramedics for help had come from inside the home.

Campbell River RCMP interviewed witnesses Wednesday in relation to what they called a domestic incident. Forensic investigators combed the home, cordoned off in police tape, for clues.

"We will exhaust every detail in terms of forensic and witness evidence," Sgt. Craig Massey said.

He would not say whether the man in custody is known to police.

"We are touching base with other agencies," Massey said.

Police did not release the name of the family or the nature of the boy's injuries. They also would not say whether his mother was present during the incident.

The couple had one child together.

The boy attended Ecole Georgia Park elementary. The mother works at the 7-Eleven store in Willow Point, a middle-class area where houses are being built.

B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics were called at 2: 28 a.m. to the home rented by the family.

"On arrival, officers determined that a seven-year-old male was suffering from serious injuries," Massey said. "This male was transported to [Campbell River] hospital via ambulance, where he succumbed to his injuries."

The call for an ambulance came from inside the house, said Kelsey Carwithen, spokeswoman for B.C. Ambulance Service.

"We transported three patients to hospital, one with serious and life-threatening injuries," Carwithen said.

The spokeswoman would not say whether the third patient was the boy's mother, but said the other two people had "nonlife-threatening injuries."

Campbell River Mayor Charlie Cornfield called the incident tragic and shocking.

"We're a very safe community, we don't have incidents like this," Cornfield said.

"Serious acts of violence are not common here. It's a shocker for me, especially with someone so young. I feel for the family."

Neighbour Janelle Bouzan said the news is hitting her hard.

"Especially because it happened three doors down from my home."
