Once again, we see that a lot of these daddy killings do not come "out of the blue," but are the result of systematic failures on the part of the criminal justice system. Notice that this frantic mom called the police asking them to check on her 22-month-old daughter, who was then visiting her father, TYRONE HESTER. The police concluded that that the little girl "was not in danger." Yet we know from out posting earlier today that Daddy had a history of assault and domestic violence. Why would they conclude she wasn't in danger? Less than half an hour after the police left, Daddy shot the girl to death. We posted on this case earlier today.

DURHAM, N.C. A Durham woman whose ex-boyfriend shot and killed himself and their 22-month-old daughter called police asking for help less than an hour before the shooting.
A 911 tape released Tuesday indicates Latoya Smith called and begged Durham police to check on her daughter, who was spending time with her father, Tyrone Xavier Hester, on Saturday, the day they both died.
Police say they responded to Smith's call about 12:30 p.m. Saturday and concluded that Aaishia was not in danger.
Less than a half-hour later, Tyrone Xavier Hester and 22-month-old Aaishia were found shot outside a Durham apartment complex where some of Hester's relatives lived.
Hester died at the scene. Aaishia was taken to Duke University Hospital where she later died.
