Dad charged with capital murder in death of 4-month-old son--baby apparently killed during Daddy's visitation time (Jackson, Mississippi)

Dad ZACCHAEUS BROWN has been charged with capital murder in the violent death of his 4-month-old son. The baby died from blunt force trauma to the head (skull fractures).

Let's ask some hard questions here. Daddy was not living with the mother of this infant, WHO WAS ONLY 15 years of AGE. In fact, the DA says Daddy may be facing statutory rape charges. So. Who decided a (probable) statuatory rapist who would make a good infant care candidate? Did Mommy (who is still a minor) figure that the baby needed quality time with Daddy? (This is a common myth propagated by the fathers rights people through a lot of psychologists and through the court system in general). Or did the courts decide this scum, er, outstanding single father, needed to have visitation?

This reminds me of dad DWAYNE POOLE in Florida--a case we have also posted on here at Dastardly. He got CUSTODY from his underage girlfriend after her own mother died and she was forced into foster care. And yea, he got "mad" and killed the baby too.

And who is this idiot from the domestic violence organization blaming the baby's abuse on "youth"? Yes, youth is correlated with abuse. But the main problem is assuming young fathers make good partners and infant caregivers. They don't.

An 18-year-old Jackson father is now facing capital murder charges in the death of his 4-month-old son.

Zacchaeus Brown was charged Friday afternoon after autopsy results showed Jaheem Brown died a violent death. He initially was charged with felony child abuse on Thursday, Jackson Police Department spokeswoman Colendula Green said.

"There are skull fractures and internal bleeding as a result of blunt-force trauma to the head," said Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart.

Brown allegedly was watching the child in the home he shares with his mother at 203 Wilshire Ave. when the injuries occurred. AMR was called Thursday and transported Jaheem to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Grisham-Stewart said Jaheem was dead when he arrived at the hospital with obvious bruises to the face and head.

District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith said whether Brown also will face a statutory rape charge because of the age of Jaheem's mother depends upon their ages being 36 or more months apart. The mother is 15 years old, according to police. Her exact birthday was unavailable Friday.

The Clarion-Ledger does not the report the names of possible sexual assault victims.

The child's mother and Brown do not live together, officials said.

Jaheem's mother's family would not speak to The Clarion-Ledger.

Brown's parents could not be reached for comment.

Brown, who also goes by the name "Montrel," or "Trel," had posted a picture of his son to Facebook as recently as Wednesday. Several other pictures on his profile showed the child.

How Jaheem suffered the blunt-force trauma is under investigation.

Grisham-Stewart said she sees a lot of cases where children die at the hands of young parents.

Betty Spencer, a social worker with the Domestic Violence Legal Help Line, said such violence could be a symptom of the youth of the parents.

"We have had teenagers that have been abused that have come into the office, where they're not married and the father of the child has abused the child or the girlfriend," she said.
