CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A 16-year-old Cleveland Heights youth died after an altercation with his father Sunday afternoon.
Adonis Mays and his father Christopher Mays, 34, started arguing about 4 p.m. in a bedroom on the second floor of a home in the 3400 block of Henderson Road, according to a news release from the Cleveland Heights Police.
The argument turned physical and Christopher put Adonis in a choke hold.
When Adonis fell to the floor unconscious, Christopher fled.
Adonis was found by his grandmother who then called 9-1-1. He was taken by the Cleveland Heights Fire Department Rescue Squad to Huron Road Hospital. He was pronounced dead seven minutes later.
The Cuyahoga County coroner's office is to do an autopsy Tuesday.
Christopher was arrested by Cleveland Heights Police when he returned to the house. He is currently being held at the Cuyahoga County Jail.
Christopher has not been charged, according to a Cleveland Heights police spokesperson.
Police are still investigating.
