This is a very standard domestic violence murder case. There was a history of violence--Mom had even received an order of protection before (which is generally useless against a determined abuser, just as you see here). She was in the process of leaving UNNAMED DAD, which is generally recognized as the most dangerous time for women and children. And so he killed her, before offing himself.
But there's something else I want to highlight for you. What is wrong with the reporters for these kinds of articles? Not only do they appear to have NO experience with parenting or children, they appear to be complete and utter morons.
Picture this scenario. You are just 3 years old. You have heard your daddy beat up your mommy before, and it left you scared and confused and angry. This time, Daddy shoots her dead. You heard the shot. There's a good chance you even heard her plead for her life before hand. Maybe you heard screaming and even saw her body or all the blood. Then your Daddy kills himself. You are just 3 years old, and now you are left alone with the dead bodies of your parents. For how long? Minutes? Hours? In you mind, it was an eternity. Maybe you hid somewhere. Maybe you were too stunned to hide. You wait--utterly alone in the world.
You will never experience having your mommy feed you, clothe you, hug you, read to you, or tuck you in at night. You may have nightmares about what you saw and heard and felt for years to come.
But never fear, because an especially idiotic reporter has just announced that you were "not harmed."

West Allis, Wis. (AP) -- Police say a husband fatally shot his wife, then took his own life in a Milwaukee suburb. A 3-year-old girl in the house was not harmed.
West Allis police say the fatal shooting happened about 4 p.m. Monday in a quiet neighborhood at the home of the woman's sister. Neighbors watched as the body of the 23-year-old woman was removed from the house, as well as the 27-year-old man.
Court records indicate the couple was in the process of divorcing. Records also show the woman, at one time, had a restraining order against the man, which he violated and served jail time.
