Dad accused of injuring infant: "It was an accident" (Washington County, Pennsylvania)

Dad KEITH LONG says "it was an accident" that his 5-month-old son received severe injuries while under his care. Maybe the baby was snow boarding or something. Wait, there's no snow yet. Don't worry. We'll think of something.

Harder to explain, of course, is why Daddy was presumably "caring" for this baby (or at least home with this baby) when Mom had a protection from abuse (PFA) order against him. No doubt we'll come up with some line on that too--that it was a "misunderstanding" or something. These guys are always slick that way.

Father Accused Of Injuring Infant: 'It Was An Accident'
Police Say Keith Long Seriously Hurt 5-Month-Old Son

SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A Washington county man accused of assaulting his baby boy was back in court on Friday for a hearing on a protection from abuse order.

Keith Long, 25, was arraigned last week on charges that he caused severe injuries to his 5-month-old child.

"It was an accident," Long told Channel 4 Action News as he walked through the courthouse.

Investigators said the boy had rib and arm injuries when he was brought to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. The boy remains in the hospital.

The PFA was filed by the child's mother, Christa Bolen, in January. She told police Long had been at home on Country Club Road with the boy before he was injured.

The PFA accuses Long of verbal and mental abuse, as Bolen claims Long flicked a cigarette ash in her eye, spit on her and pushed her around.

Police said Long was in violation of that order at the time the baby was hurt.
