"Drunk enough" dad charged with child endangerment--apparently during visitation (St. Paul, Minnesota)

The fact is kind of buried, but notice that all this apparently took place during Daddy LENZIE L. GEORGE's visitation with his 7-year-old daughter and HER 2-MONTH-OLD SISTER. Who in the hell thought that it was a good idea to let this boozer have visitation with a baby that young? Or the older girl for that matter? Thank goodness the little girl kept her head and carried the baby home safely. But she shouldn't have had that responsibility thrust upon her, just so this boozer could have his father's rights.

What was the domestic abuse no contact order about anyway? No word about that either.

'Drunk enough' St. Paul dad charged with child endangerment
Last update: September 20, 2010 - 8:58 PM

A 7-year-old St. Paul girl had to carry her 2-month-old sister as they walked home while their drunk father followed 50 yards behind, stumbling and falling along the way, according to court documents.

Lenzie L. George, 28, was charged Monday in Ramsey County District Court with two counts of child endangerment and one count of violation of a domestic abuse no contact order.

A concerned citizen flagged down an officer Friday about 6:20 p.m., reporting that a drunk man was walking northbound on Victoria Street with children, according to the complaint. The officer saw George stumbling on the sidewalk. About 50 yards ahead, the 7-year-old girl stood in the middle of the Dayton Avenue and Victoria Street intersection, struggling to hold her sister.

The officer guided the sisters to the sidewalk. When the officer went to find their father, he had fallen on the ground, the complaint said.

Authorities took the children to their mother's home nearby, where the mother said their father had picked them up just a few hours earlier.

The 7-year-old told police, "Daddy was trying to buy beer," and that she had to carry her sister because "My daddy kept falling over," according to the complaint.

George told police he had been drinking and was letting the kids play on some grass, but could not recall where he had been with the girls. He told police he was "drunk enough."
