Note that once again, this is a misleading headline. This wasn't just "a man" who left a 1-year-old girl in the road, then drove off. It was her father JAMIE RAREKA HILL--and it sure sounds like this was during a visitation, too. Since he dropped her off early near the mother's house when the mother was not home--and before the baby was expected to return. Just dumped the baby and her diaper bag and split. Wow. Thank goodness there were neighbors who witnessed this and got that baby out of harm's way.

Man charged with cruelty for leaving child in roadway

A Thomson man recently was arrested for leaving his 1-year-old daughter unattended in a roadway.
Investigator Capt. J. Bridges of the Thomson Police Department said Jamie Rareka Hill, 25, of the 800 block of Lincoln Circle, was charged with one count of cruelty to children in the first degree.
He was jailed in the McDuffie County Law Enforcement Center.
Cpl. Josh Caston received a call to a residence on the 100 block of Georgia Avenue on Sept. 11 from a resident, according to a police report.
The police officer said he spoke with Na'Rail Apollonia Boyd who informed him that the baby's father dropped her off in the road without her knowledge and then left. The child was not expected back home until later that evening.
Ms. Boyd discovered that her child was in the roadway after receiving a telephone call from Mario McGahee, who saw what Mr. Hill did. At the time, according to Cpl. Caston, Mr. McGahee happened to be leaving his residence.
Mr. McGahee told the police officer that Mr. Hill took his daughter out of a green-colored Jeep Cherokee and sat her in the road.
The witness added that Mr. Hill also threw his daughter's diaper bag into the road and pulled off.
The child had no adult supervision at the time. Mr. McGahee said he ran and retrieved the child from the roadway and kept the little girl until her mother could come home and get her.
