Strip club dad: I was pretty stupid (Wellington, New Zealand)

Yes you were. And you still are. Stupid that is. This is dad WAYNE SCHWAMM we're talking about.

How in the world can you flatter yourself? You boast that you're a "very good father." Are you kidding me?

And how dare you whine about being "persecuted" by the press! And just where do you find the nerve to complain about now having trouble with "access" to the child, presumably from the child's mother? This after you abandoned her sick baby alone in a car in the early hours of the morning while you visited a strip club/brothel? You're lucky she didn't cane your arse, mate. I'm sure a lot of mums (and decent dads) would have cheered her on if she had.

We posted on this case earlier here:

Note that in the earlier posting, it's said that this guy TOOK this child after a "dispute" with the mother. This wasn't just a matter of just being stupid or not finding a babysitter. This was all about being spiteful and evil.

And then Dad went to this strip club to find some woman ("a family friend" we're told) to look after the baby at his home. So why is your stripper chick girlfriend now replacing Mum? When the baby had apparently been doing just fine at home with Mum? A little abusive and controlling, are we?

And then for the finale. After the police want to have the baby hospitalized because of the baby's labored breathing, Mr. Arrogant Bastard proclaims that it's okay, "the baby is anxious because he hadn't seen his father."

If this baby was anxious, it was probably because he SAW his father.

This is what joint custody ideology has wrought. Game-playing morons who delude themselves into think they're nurturing daddies who are "equal" to Mum in everyway.

Strip club dad: I was pretty stupid
Published: 9:47AM Wednesday April 21, 2010

The father who left his 18-month-old son in a car while he went into a Wellington strip club in the early hours of the morning has admitted he was "stupid" but denies he is a bad dad.

Wayne Schwamm was fined $200 after pleading guilty to leaving a child under 14 without reasonable supervision last week.

Asked by Close Up's Mark Sainsbury if he has learnt anything from the incident, Schwamm said: "Yeah, that I was pretty stupid."

He says he has never done anything like that before and would say he's a very good father.

"I don't think anything I can say now can reverse the damage I've already done. I feel we were persecuted a bit by the press," he says.

"Now I'm convicted and also have trouble having access to my son."

Schwamm left his baby, Cassius, who had health issues, alone in his car while he spent 40 minutes in a Courtney Place strip club and brothel.

He says he was there to get a family friend who was going to travel back to Palmerston North with him and help look after the baby. He says she was not a girlfriend or someone he was involved with but she had looked after Cassius twice before and he wanted somebody who was familiar with him to help look after him.

"I wasn't able to get the person out that I was supposed to meet at 2 or 2.30. I sat out there for 30 minutes playing with Cassius in the car.

"And then he was almost asleep and I thought that I had not other option but to go in and get the person that was supposed to be going back with me to Palmerston."

Schwamm says he had given the baby his bottle and he is a sound sleeper.

He presumed that because the club was licensed premises it wouldn't be an option to take the child with him and also didn't think it was appropriate to take a baby into that sort of situation.

Police broke into the car to get the child and Schwamm says he came out of the bar to find him sitting on a policewoman's lap. He asked to cuddle his son but this was refused, he says.

At the police station, he says, a sergeant first told him he was being sent home with his son, and later said the baby had gone to hospital because police were concerned about his heavy breathing.

Schwamm says he told the sergeant Cassius would be anxious because he hadn't seen his father and that he can calm him down quite easily.

He says there is not necessarily a breakdown in his relationship with his partner "but we've got issues to work through and hopefully it will be resurrected."

Asked if he was some kind of monster, Schwamm replied: "I don't believe so but maybe others do."
