Custodial dad, fiancee due in court over killing of 5-year-old daughter (Gresham, Oregon)

Custodial dad CHRISTOPER ROSILLO and his fiance have made their first court appearance in connection with the murder of Dad's 5-year-old daughter. Investigators say it's one of the worst cases of child abuse they have ever seen. And there's not one damn word about this little girl's mother. It's as if this child spontaneously burst out of the air.

GRESHAM, Ore. -- A Gresham man and his fiancée made their first court appearance Monday in connection with the killing of the man's 5-year-old daughter.

Police said the girl, Oleander Labier, endured years of abuse. Sgt. Rick Wilson said investigators have called it the worst case of child abuse that any of them can ever recall investigating.

Officers have stayed tight-lipped about Labier's death. Court documents released Monday did not provide additional details.

The official cause of death won't be released for several weeks until the medical examiner's report is complete, but Wilson said there was a pattern of physical abuse that had been going on for years.

Gresham Police Department officers were initially called to an apartment on Southeast 169th Avenue on April 13 after a report that Labier was unconscious and not breathing.

By the time officers arrived, paramedics were transporting the girl to Portland Adventist Hospital. A short time after her arrival there, she was pronounced dead.

Officers said their investigation and an autopsy showed Labier died of homicidal violence.

After several interviews with Labier's father, 23-year-old Christopher Rosillo, and other family members, police took Rosillo's fiancee, 23-year-old Guadalupe Quintero, into custody Friday.

Two children at the home shared by Quintero and Rosillo were taken into protective custody.

Six hours after Quintero's arrest, police also took Rosillo into custody in connection with his daughter's death. Both Quintero and Rosillo were jailed on one count of murder.

Neighbor Karen Vega said she did not know the family well, but she had seen Labier playing outside before.

"The little girls used to just hang out here with the other girls," she said. "She liked to play (outside), she was always happy."

Gresham police said they're still considering the case an active investigation.
