Dad convicted of raping unrelated 12-year-old girl, but it's "unfair" for him not to see own daughter (Litchfield, Connecticut)

Sometimes I think it must be fun to be a basic delusional sociopath like dad JOSE LABOY. You rape a 12-year-old girl (apparently unrelated to you the perpetrator), express no particular regrets about the matter (in fact, you blame the victim for presumably having more "rights" than your sorry @$$), then entertain delusions about how you "mostly care" for your daughter (apparently not a victim in this case) and how she really "needs" you in her life. And that's why it's just not fair for you to go to prison, be ordered to have no unsupervised contact with minors, and be kept away from your own poor child! I mean 10 whole years in prison for just a few minor transgressions like sexual assault, assault, larceny, burglary, probation violation, and criminal mischief! Oh woe is you!

You really think that, huh? Well, you do admit that she was taken away from you because of your heroin abuse and all, but still, after all that, just why the hell does she need you? I hate to break it to ya, pal, but she doesn't.

Dad argues sex case sentence
Published: Sunday, September 20, 2009

LITCHFIELD — A New Milford man sentenced to 10 years in jail Friday for having sex with a 12-year-old girl challenged the state’s request to keep him away from his child.

“I mostly care about my daughter,” Jose Laboy, 24, told Judge James Ginocchio. “The reason she was taken away was because of my drug problem and her mother’s drug problem. [...] She needs me in her life and I need her in my life.”

Laboy was ordered to serve 10 years of a 20-year sentence for first-degree sexual assault, first-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree assault, two counts of violation of probation and second-degree criminal mischief.

Laboy and his brother, Luis Laboy, 20, both of 38 Bel Air Drive, sexually assaulted two girls over a weekend in December 2007 and gave them pornography and alcohol, according to court documents.

Laboy did not express any regret for his conduct and complained that the victim had more rights than he did in the case.

“This is 10 years of my life. It’s not a joke,” Laboy said. “It’s half my life in prison.”

Laboy was ordered to have no unsupervised contact with minors and to undergo mental health and substance abuse treatment when he is released. He was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and attend sex offender treatment.

Laboy was one of an eight-person crew that burglarized about 18 homes and businesses in Sherman, Roxbury and New Milford last year, stealing cash, electronics, scrap metal, copper pipes and rebuilt transmissions to trade for money to support their heroin habit.
