Dad charged with aggravated assault after high speed chase and crash; 2 children badly burned (Lurgan Township, Pennsylvania)

Dad JASSEN ALBERT apparently thought it would be fun to play chase with the local police. At high speed, of course--otherwise, what fun is that?

You almost expect this crap from 17-year-old kids who just had a few beers on a Saturday night. Kids who grew up watching "2 Fast, 2 Furious" too many times.

But Albert was a 33-year-old father who also had his 6-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter in the back seat. So this @$$wipe loses control of the car and crashes into a pole. The car bursts into flames with the kids inside. Fortunately, the cops were able to get the kids out, though they have 3rd-degree burns and will be hospitalized for a while.

Dad has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and driving on a suspended license.

Troopers Honored for Saving Two Kids

Lurgan Township, Pa. - Family and friends thanked the first responders who saved the lives of two children injured in a high-speed chase on Good Friday.

First and second graders at Lurgan Elementary School honored the six state troopers and firefighters who pulled their classmates, Brianna and Jassen “Buddy” Albert, out of a burning car.

The children were in the backseat of their father's car when police say he led them on a high-speed chase along a 15 miles stretch of Route 30 between Gettysburg and Chambersburg. The car eventually crashed into a pole and burst into flames. ABC 27

Troopers used fire extinguishers to help subdue the flames and get the kids out of the car.

"We’re very honored that they recognized us for this incident because it's something that will stick in our minds forever, there's no doubt,” said Trooper Kevin Goss.

“I was real thankful for getting my kids out because if they hadn't been there I wouldn't have my kids here,” said April Alberty, the children’s mother.

Both kids remain at Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital with third degree burns from the knees down, so they had to rely on their mother, grandmother, teachers and classmates to express their gratitude.

"It was touching,” said Goss. “It was very nice to see that they're doing well and recovering. It's amazing."

The childen's father, 33-year-old Jassen Albert, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and driving on a suspended license.

Brianna Albert, 8, is set to be transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical Center this week to start therapy, according to her mother. Buddy, 6, will remain at Johns Hopkins for several more skin grafts.

The family’s hope is to have both children back home by Buddy's birthday on July 4.
