Her father and his fiancee 'refused to give her food, made her sleep on the floor and forced her to run as punishment for soiling herself'
Fiancee Michelle Nicole Smith has already pleaded guilty and will now testify in the trial of Donald Lee Cockrell

A father has gone on trial for allegedly beating and starving his three-year-old daughter to death - three years after her bruised, malnourished body was found at his home.

Donald Lee Cockrell, 30, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Alexis Marie Pounder with his fiancee, Michelle Nicole Smith, in Sandy, Oregon in January 2010.

Smith pleaded guilty to the killing last year and faces a minimum of 30 years behind bars, and as part of the plea deal she will testify against Cockrell.

Alexis, who was known as Lexi, weighed just 21 pounds when paramedics found her beaten body at the garbage-filled home she shared with Cockrell, Smith and four other children under five.
Investigators said it was one of the worst cases they have ever seen.

The young girl, who had lived at the home since October 2009, was incontinent and was repeatedly punished for soiling herself, The Oregonian reported.

If the family went out to a fast-food restaurant, she was the only one who would go without a meal, and would be forced to sleep on the floor or to run as punishment, the paper reported.

An autopsy found that she suffered a blunt force head trauma and the report detailed scores of injuries to her little body, prosecutor Christine Landers told the jury in Cockrell's trial.

Dad Kills Son He Feared Losing, Self

I don't know why they claim 'distraught' when it has already been well documented in study after study that FATHERS kill children to punish their Mothers for Leaving them. It is Entitlement, Belief System and the Ultimate Act of Control.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines—A man in South Cotabato, reportedly despondent over the prospect of separation from his 12-year-old son, set his home on fire and exploded a grenade, killing himself and the boy in the process, the police reported Thursday.
Police Officer 3 Homer Celiz, case officer, identified the man as Charlie Mantilla and his son Charles Joven.
Celiz said the police in the town of Polomolok received an alert about a fire followed by an explosion in Barangay Sulit around 12 noon on Wednesday and immediately sent a team there.
He said when investigators arrived in the area, they were led by residents to the house of the Mantilla family.
Celiz said the fire that Mantilla had started in the master bedroom was already out  by then because neighbors had managed to force their way into the house.
He said the neighbors found the mutilated bodies of the Mantilla father and son in separate corners of the kitchen.
Neighbors and relatives told investigators that Mantilla started showing signs of mental and emotional distress after receiving information that his wife, who works abroad, wanted their son to live with her parents for still unknown reasons, Celiz said. This worsened when he was told that his wife was coming home in February, Celiz added.
Lucila, Mantilla’s mother, said her son resented the wife’s plan, which Charles Joven had confirmed earlier, because he was so attached to the boy. She said her son had taken care of the boy for the past six years while his wife was working abroad.
Victoria de Pusoy, who grew up with the Mantilla clan, said before the explosion, she overheard Charles Joven pleading to his father to calm down.
“Bembem (Charles Joven) asked him to stop what he was doing. He set his motorcycle on fire, went inside the master  bedroom then burned their clothes. A few minutes later, a loud explosion took place,” Victoria said.
Bebing Tanare, a childhood friend of Mantilla’s, said he had been  drinking heavily since being told that Charles Joven would soon be living with his in-laws.
Tanare said she asked Mantilla once if he needed help but he told her he was okay.
“But he once told me also that a voice kept whispering in his ear, telling him that his son will be taken away.
Maybe, he was imagining things due to too much alcohol intake,” Tanare said.

Indianapolis Dad Pleads Guilty to Beating his 9 month old son

There is no mention at all of MOTHER. Where is she?

Father admits to having 'anger management issues' as if that should excuse his behavior? Why did this convicted child abuser with admitted anger control issues have custody of two babies? How many of the past convictions were his own children? They were all infants.

An Admitted FATHER with a a Prior history of Child Abuse to infants in 2004 and in 2009 yet this FATHER JOHNNY BISHOP still had apparently full physical custody?

Indianapolis father accused of beating his then-9-month-old son pleads guilty
http://www.indystar.com/article/20130130/NEWS02/130130040/Indianapolis-father-accused-beating-his-then-9-month-old-son-pleads-guilty

Johnny Bishop, the Indianapolis father accused of beating his then-9-month-old son, has pleaded guilty to battery charges against him.

Bishop, 30, was arrested last July after police received a report of an infant who was not breathing. Police found Bishop performing a CPR on his son inside a van parked outside an auto shop on the Southside. The infant was later transported to Riley Hospital for Children in critical condition.

Bishop pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated battery, one count of battery and one count of child neglect. He is scheduled to be sentenced Friday afternoon at Marion County Superior Court, said Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Eric Schmadeke.

As his son remained in the hospital last July, Bishop called his action “a stupid choice.”

Court documents said that as detectives interrogated Bishop, he knelt in front of a chair in the interview room and said, “Please help me with my anger issue. I made a stupid choice. I hope these people forgive me. I don’t know why I did that.”

Bishop told detectives that on July 11, 2012, he brought his son and daughter with him to work at A to Z Auto, 1149 E. Troy Ave. He told police he did not have seatbelts in his van, so his son fell from his car seat twice, documents said.

Later that day, while he was changing the boy's diaper, Bishop said his arms "tensed up" and he stopped breathing. That's when he took the boy to the van and performed CPR on him, he told detectives. He said he put two fingers into his son's throat to try to make him puke or breathe, documents said. He also mentioned shaking the boy to consciousness a couple of times.

But prosecutors said the boy’s injuries were indicative of non-accidental trauma.

Documents said doctors at Riley found two subdural hematomas or bleeding of the brain, a possible skull fracture and brain tissue damage.

Bishop later told detectives that he has anger problems, and also admitted striking his then 3-year-old daughter. Detectives found bruises on the girl’s buttocks and scratches in other parts of her body.

Schmadeke said the boy has since been released from the hospital. It’s not immediately known who now has custody of Bishop’s two children.

This is not Bishop's first child battery charge.

In November 2003, he was arrested for allegedly beating a then-9-month-old baby boy. The police report said the boy had fractures to his left arm and rib.
Indiana Department of Correction's offender database shows Bishop was convicted of battery in April 2004. A separate battery conviction happened in October 2009.

(MI) Dad to stand trial for Beating Death of his 3 month old son

Montrose father ruled competent to stand trial in beating death of infant son
 http://www.mlive.com/news/flint/index.ssf/2013/01/montrose_man_accused_of_killin.html

FLINT, MI -- A 23-year-old Montrose man was ruled competent to stand trial on charges that he killed his 3-month-old son.

Genesee District Judge Mark W. Latchana ruled Tuesday, Jan. 29, that Jeramy David Wagner is competent to stand trial in the 2012 beating death of his son.

Wagner is charged with felony murder and first- and second-degree child abuse after authorities say the boy died from blunt force trauma to the head.

A preliminary exam is scheduled for Feb. 8.

Wagner's attorney, Mark Clement, said he is reviewing the case.

Clement said Wagner had "significant psychiatric issues" that included some involuntary commitments before he was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation Nov. 6.

Montrose Township police responded to an emergency call for an infant in distress at Wagner's home in Riverside Mobile Home Park on Oct. 15.

The infant's mother, Wagner's live-in girlfriend, was administering CPR to the infant when police arrived. Police took over CPR efforts but the child was pronounced dead on arrival at Hurley Medical Center.

Wagner was taken into custody Oct. 20 following a three-hour standoff at Wagner's residence.

Dad Kills His 5 Month Old Son While Mother was Buying Christening Clothes

More of the same, Father, Shaken Baby

27-Year-Old Father Kills His Five Month Old Son
http://www.osundefender.org/?p=91250

A father fatally shook his baby boy while his mother was buying Christening clothes, a court heard today.
Lee Clark, 27, is accused of injuring five-month-old Charlee and causing brain damage while the baby’s mother Natalie Holmes was shopping, a jury was told.

Newcastle Crown Court heard that Charlee was ‘smiling’ and ‘happy’ when Natalie left the family home for Darlington, County Durham, on February 25, 2011 at around 10.45am.

But when she returned to the home Gainford, County Durham, at 3pm, the baby, who was due to baptized two days later, was making a ‘funny groaning sound’, his ‘eyes were rolling backwards’ and he had bruises on each knee.

Charlee was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital where it was obvious he was ‘extremely ill’, the court was told.
He was given oxygen and a brain scan during which Clark asked a nurse if Charlee’s injuries could have been caused by ‘shaking a baby’, the jury heard.

The scan showed that Charlee was suffering from bleeding round the brain, a swollen brain, bleeding at the back of his eyes and in his eyes, prosecutor Andrew Roberts told the court.

Attempts were made to treat Charlee in the intensive care unit but he died days later on March 1.
His Christening had been due to take place on Sunday, February 27.

Mr Roberts said: ‘Charlee, happy and normal, was left in the sole care of this defendant.
‘The Crown allege that it was while he was alone with Charlee in the home that this offence occurred.

‘Something must have happened while he was alone with Charlee because all the evidence shows he gripped and shook him vigorously.

‘The first indication that Miss Holmes had that something was not quite right was when she received a text from the defendant saying the baby was unsettled.’

Clark’s mother had arrived at the family’s home at around 12.10pm that day so the defendant could meet Miss Holmes in Darlington.

Mr Roberts added: ‘By that stage Charlee was a very different baby than the one Miss Holmes had left.
‘Charlee was in his swing whinging and grizzling.

‘When the defendant’s mother tried to lift Charlee out of the swing, Charlee let out a scream.’
Clark denies manslaughter.

The trial continues.

(GA) Dad Gets 20 Years in Prison for Severely Injuring Five-Month-Old

Another Gentle Father, Stay at home daddy, unemployed Mr. Mom.....

FATHER ARCHIE JERRELL ISOM 20 Years in Prison for Severely Injuring Five-Month-Old
http://douglasville.patch.com/articles/father-gets-20-years-in-prison-for-severely-injuring-five-month-old

Archie Jerrell Isom of Lithia Springs received a 30-year sentence by Superior Court Judge David T. Emerson after entering a guilty plea to two counts of aggravated battery.

A 24-year-old father will spend 20 years in prison after being sentenced on child abuse charges for shaking his five-month-old son so hard that it caused brain swelling, bleeding of blood vessels in the eyes and blindness, according to Douglas County District Attorney David McDade in a press release.

Archie Jerrell Isom of Lithia Springs received a 30-year sentence by Superior Court Judge David T. Emerson after entering a guilty plea to two counts of aggravated battery. After being released from prison, Isom will be required to serve the final 10 years of his sentence on probation. He is required to have no contact with the child and the child’s mother.

Assistant District Attorney Bonnie Smith told the court that the injuries suffered by the baby on Dec. 31, 2010, were consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome, a medical term used for the internal head injuries a baby or young child sustains while being violently shaken. The injuries, Smith said, occurred while the baby was in the sole care of Isom, who was watching the child while the mother was at work.

“Sometime during the mother’s lunch break she received a call from the defendant, who informed her something was wrong with the baby,” said Smith. “The defendant said he could not wake their son up and that something was wrong with the child’s body…She instructed him to hang up the phone and call 911 and she rushed home to see what happened.”

As the mother drove towards the couple’s residence, an ambulance carrying her unconscious five-month-old son was rushing away from the apartment complex towards WellStar Douglas Hospital.

“A doctor immediately noted retinal hemorrhages on the baby, a key sign of a child who has been shaken,” said Smith. “Doctors knew the baby was seriously injured and had him life-flighted to Scottish-Rite, which likely saved his life.”

When the child arrived at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Hospital, a team of doctors also determined the injuries were consistent with him being shaken.

Smith pointed out that Isom remained silent, even amongst the chaos and uncertainty. “The mother had to sit by the side of her five-month-old child, wondering if he was going to come out of his coma, and yet the defendant said nothing.”

Isom finally broke his silence, telling authorities the child fell off a bed while the defendant was washing dishes in another room. After doctors determined his story did not match up with his son’s injuries, Isom changed his story again. This time he told authorities he tripped over a cat while carrying the baby. The accident, according to Isom, caused the child to fall and bump his head on the ground. Doctors determined that story was not consistent with the physical injuries sustained by the baby.

Dad Dominique Ford was arrested after child shot at Savannah apartment complex

Apparently DAD Dominique Ford was breaking in to retrieve guns? I can almost bet although not mentioned below there is a ROI against this GENTLE DADDY. At least for now, he is in jail. But I am sure that his case is far from over. He is already trying to take the baby daughter from the her mother.

Father arrested after child shot at Savannah apartment complex

Savannah-Chatham police arrested a 26-year-old Garden City man after his daughter was shot Monday morning at a west Chatham County apartment complex.

Dominique Ford was treated at Memorial University Medical Center, along with 2-year-old De’Kiiyah Roper, after West Chatham precinct officers found Ford walking away from the scene with the child at Westlake Apartments.

Police said neither wound received by the two was life-threatening. Investigators said the shooting occurred during a domestic dispute.

About 11:45 a.m., police were called to the apartment complex following reports of a shooting of a man and a child. They reported they found Ford had climbed out of a window with the child and was walking through a wooded area with her. He was charged with aggravated assault.

Violent Crimes detectives determined that Ford had entered the residence to retrieve a gun and a struggle then ensued between him and Dennaysha Roper, 21, the child’s mother and resident of the apartment. She was able to get the gun away from him and fired once, striking him. But he then picked up the child before she fired again, said police spokesman Julian Miller.

Miller said Criminal Investigations Division detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.

A woman who identified herself at the taped-off scene as the property manager said the apartment community has not had any recent problems.

Monday’s incident was the fourth shooting that has occurred in the past seven days and the fifth shooting in nearly four weeks.

On Jan. 23, a Savannah man was struck by a bullet police said two other men fired at his apartment door at the Turtle Creek Apartment complex on White Bluff Road.

On Jan. 22, Evan Colquitt, 17, was shot multiple times on Sharondale Road in the Windsor Forest neighborhood. He died later at the hospital.

On Jan. 21, Rebecca Lorraine Foley, 21, was fatally shot in her car near her apartment at Colonial Village at Marsh Cove off White Bluff Road.

On Jan. 9, a 24-year-old man received non-life-threatening injuries after he was shot near his home at the intersection of Fahm and Zubly streets in Yamacraw Village.

(OH) Dad Domonic Gaines Jailed After posting BABY AND GUN

Seriously? So Again we will have 'silly dad'  et MEDIA and Lawyers  covering for this kind of  behavior.  Fatherhood Exaltation. Hence more fatherhood funding for more classes to teach daddies how to not kill. Typically is how these cases go. When will we learn that this is NOT appropriate behavior and that we can NOT teach these dads to be moms?

And the Mother has been conditioned appropriately SHARED CUSTODY to defend the father as also in most these case after DADDY does antics like this. Mother is usually blamed and Father gains full custody.

Dad jailed when photo of baby and gun was posted to Facebook

COLERAIN TWP, Ohio (WCPO) - Ashley Price hoped her weekend would be peaceful and quiet.
It didn't turn out that way.
The Wyoming teenager dropped off her infant daughter, Paradise, at the home of his father, Domonic Gaines, in Colerain Township, Ohio.

Hours later, she was shocked to learn that he'd been arrested and charged with child endangering. The Colerain Township police report said Gaines posted a photo on Facebook of himself holding the child and a revolver BB gun. It's since been taken down.

"The close proximity of the BB gun to the child created a substantial risk of physical harm and safety of the child," the affidavit in the case read.

Gaines was arraigned Monday morning in Hamilton County Municipal Court and was released from the Hamilton County Justice Center Monday afternoon after posting 10 percent of his $2,000 bond.

"Get out of my face, bro," he told WCPO's Tom McKee as he left the Justice Center with Price, his brother and other friends.

Price said Monday she hasn't seen the picture, but the whole thing was a joke. It's now up to the courts to decide if it's a laughing matter.

"What happened was my baby's father, Domonic, took a picture of my daughter and him sitting down with a BB gun and my mother, Sylvia Price, called the news and called the police saying my daughter was in danger, but she wasn't," Price said. "The gun was fake. It was a BB gun. It wasn't loaded or nothing. My daughter was in no kind of danger whatsoever and it got turned into something it wasn't supposed to be."

Upon hearing of Gaines' arrest, Price admitted she was angry.

"Anybody would be mad," she said. "Your daughter around a gun? I don't care if it's real or fake or not. Anybody would be mad."

Media attorney Monica Dias of Frost Brown Todd said it's not a crime to post a photo to Facebook, but it might pose problems for the person who uploads it and/or the people in the picture.

"If a photo ends up being evidence in a criminal case, you can expect to see that photo used against you as evidence of a crime," she said.

Dias said as more people use social media, they often forget to be careful.

"People are so quick to post things on Facebook or YouTube because there's this aspect of 'I want to communicate with as many people as I can in real time and show them what I'm doing this very minute,'" she added. "In a way, that has broken down our filters -- our self-restraint filters -- where we don't always think before we post and it can land you in hot water."

"Be cautious" is the advice Dias gives to clients.

"Think before you post," she said. "It's just common sense."

Price said that's a lesson Gaines won't likely forget.

"He'll learn his own mistakes," she said. "I guess he won't do it no more."

Abducted child found safe, father remains on the loose

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
The Pima County Sheriff's Department says King Gomez, 2 has been found safe, and two of the six suspects are now in custody.

Deputy Tom Peine says the suspect, Luis Soberanes, heard about the news coverage and contacted Sheriff's detectives. He revealed the child's location and the boy was found safe.

Luis Soberanes is still on the loose. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.

According to Peine, Gomez was taken at about 11 a.m. yesterday by his father, Soberanes, who had with him the boy's grandmother, Guadelupe Legarda, his aunt, Fernanda Mendoza, and three unidentified men.
According to a news release from the Sheriff's department, Legarda and Mendoza are now in custody.  Authorities were still working to identify the three other men.
Also in the news release, Soberanes detained the boyfriend against his will while one of the other men picked up the child, who was sleeping in another room, and handed him to Mendoza before they all left.

Prison term after Dad Adrian Pearce admits child porn charges

VANISHING MOTHER ALERT- Again there is no mention of this Custodial Father of two. Why Did He Have Custody? Where is Mother? Why is Mother still not allowed to have Custody of her children?

http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2013/01/30/prison-term-after-telford-father-admits-child-porn-charges/

A father-of-two from Shropshire has been jailed for 10 months after making nearly 50,000 indecent child images, many in the most graphic category.

Adrian Pearce, of Hopkins Heath, Shawbirch, Telford, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court for sentencing after admitting 10 charges of making around 48,760 images.

The court heard he had kept his obsession a ‘dark secret’ for more than a decade.

The court heard the 63-year-old had collected the images from the internet over a 10 to 15 year period.

Pearce admitted making about 47,290 photos and 380 videos at level one, the least graphic. He also admitted making about 40 photographs and five videos at level five, depicting the most graphic abuse.

Mr Robert James Edwards, prosecuting, said police were acting on intelligence when they carried out a search warrant at his property in September 2011. He told the court Pearce was later arrested and confessed to police he had been collecting indecent images for about 10 to 15 years.

Mr Dean Easthope, for Pearce, said his client had become obsessed with the images. He said: “He has distorted thinking. He became a recluse.”

Judge Robin Onions told Pearce: “On the outside you were a well-respected working man. But you kept a dark secret.”

Pearce was also barred from working with children for life.

Dad faces charges for biting 2-month-old son, breaking his rib (Boston, Massachusetts)

Sounds like your typical scenario. A batterer who is also a child abuser. No surprise there. In this case, an @$$ hole who BIT HIS 2-MONTH OLD SON and broke his rib because he was "frustrated" from the baby's crying.

Notice that this sh** is in a batterer intervention program, and STILL this guy is full of freaking self pity and takes NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS ACTIONS. It's all pissing and whining about how he's "too young" to go through this. Doesn't even occur to him that his 2-month-old son is too young to be bitten.  Pure batterer narcissism, folks. There is no therapy for this because there is no conscience there.

Young Boston father faces child abuse charges

Posted: Today at 5:05 pm Updated: Today at 5:26 pm

BOSTON (WHDH) -- A Boston father is facing charges after allegedly abusing his 2-month-old son.

Steven Velasquez asked the court to let him cover his face while he faced charges for hurting his two-month-old son.

“This is my life we're talking about. This is my life we're talking about. I’m too young to be going through this man,” said Velasquez.

Prosecutors said the 19-year-old South Boston man bit his son several times and broke the baby's rib. Doctors found the injuries when the boy was taken to Children's Hospital. The baby's mother tells police Velasquez did it.

“She states that the defendant had done it. He had squeezed the child until the rib had fractured,” said Asst. District Attorney David Newton.

According to the prosecution, the mother also told a Boston Public Housing employee about the alleged abuse saying this:

“He's been abusing me and won't let the kids eat their food. He threw the baby down on the bed. He tossed him because he wouldn't stop crying,” read Newton.

Velasquez is enrolled in a court ordered batterer intervention program. The baby's mother originally told police the bite marks came from another child.

The defense argues allegations against Velazquez come at same time as the couple's unfolding family court battle.

“There's certainly something going on between him and the mother of his children,” said Arthur Shabo, defense attorney.

Velasquez is the father of three children. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

Mahila court finds father guilty of raping daughter

A Subburaj, Jan 25, 2013, 04.29AM IST

COIMBATORE: The father of a 23-year-old girl was found guilty of sexually abusing her for four years after she turned 17 and making her pregnant. Though the girl had changed her testimony during the trial, the mahila court here found him guilty on the basis of medical evidence. The sentence will be pronounced on January 28.

Mahila court judge M P Subramanian found the 51-year-old accused, R Palanisamy (then 45) guilty of raping his daughter. When asked by the judge about the quantum of sentence to be awarded, Palanisamy pleaded that he was innocent of the charges leveled against him. His daughter had got married and she was living happily with her family.

Judge Subramanian ordered that since the charges have been proved, the accused should be kept in judicial custody till January 28. Palanisamy was sent to Coimbatore Central Prison.

The victim was not present in the court when the judgment was delivered. However, P Kalamani, 50, the victim's mother and P Sakthivel, 21, the victim's younger brother, were present in the court. The victim had lodged a complaint of rape with Ramanathapuram police station on June 30, 2009, and an FIR was registered against Palanisamy under section 376 (rape) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code the same day. The victim, her mother and her younger brother were listed as witnesses. But all three turned hostile when the case came to the mahila court for trial in June 2012. However, medical evidence proved the girl was indeed subjected to rape and sexually abused.

According to Ramanathapuram police, Palanisamy and Kalamani were living in Krishnan Temple Street in Ramanathapuram with their two children. Palanisamy, an alcoholic, drove an auto rickshaw while Kalamani worked in a lathe workshop in shifts. The victim was studying in Class 12 while her brother was a Class 10 student.

In March 2006, a drunken Palanisamy threatened his son to leave the house and raped the girl. The victim took refuge in her aunt's house. Later, she told her mother about the ordeal, but Palanisamy threatened Kalamani to keep quiet. Two weeks later, the girl was raped again. On November 2, 2007, she was diagnosed as six months pregnant. The fetus was aborted.

A month later, Palanisamy raped her again and threatened to murder the entire family if she told anyone about the incident. Unable to bear the torture, the girl lodged a complaint with Ramanathapuram police station. Based on the complaint the police registered the case.

Gujarat: Father rapes two daughters for years; survivors fight for justice

GUJARAT, Updated Jan 25, 2013 at 08:34am IST
Priyali Sur, CNN-IBN

Ahmedabad: More than 50 per cent rapes are committed at home by a non-stranger. Two sisters in Gujarat were allegedly raped for years by their father. "My father used to rape me, he warned me not to tell anyone about it. I was too scared to tell anyone," one of them said.

In a small village in east Gujarat, a father of four daughters allegedly repeatedly raped his eldest daughter for three years after which he targeted the younger one, is 14 years old. "My father did everything to me that one should with one's wife. Why did he target his children when his wife was in the house too," questioned the younger daughter.

Most sexual assault cases at home go unreported for fear or shame. But the 14-year-old decided to fight and told her school principal about her father. "I am not scared to protest. I hope girls see my story and get the courage to come out in the open if they suffer fates similar to mine. If my father can do such things to me, why should I not speak up? If a culprit is hanged, only then will others fear the consequences and not do this to girls like me," she said.

After her father was taken into police custody, there was social pressure on their mother to withdraw the FIR against him. "The society discourages us from speaking up, they say our family reputation is at stake," the mother said.

Today the girls have their mother's support and hope that their case will be taken up in a fast-track court and justice will be delivered soon. "If he tries to come back here, I will not back down, I will lodge another FIR," the 14-year-old said.

Fearless and undeterred as she fights on for her sister and herself, she dreams of a brighter future. "I want to study further, everyone says that I have a bright future ahead," she says.

A distraught father living in the RS Pura border area has shamed the ‘city of temples’ by allegedly raping his own daughter and brutally assaulting her.

The ‘shameful’ act allegedly committed by the father came to light when the ailing toddler was shifted to sub-district hospital in RS Pura after she fell ill.

During the routine check-up of the girl, the doctors attending on her found that she was sexually abused and immediately referred her to Gandhi Nagar hospital for expert opinion. At present the minor is undergoing treatment under the supervision of experts.

According to police, Sunil Kumar was detained on suspicion of alleged sexual assault of his three-year-old daughter on Thursday night but was later booked under Section 377 of RPC for allegedly committing sodomy.

The mother of the victim had eloped with her neighbour Purshottam Kumar over two years ago. The children since then had also been staying with the mother of Purshottam in RS Pura separately.

The children, police said, visited father on special occasions only. The father is suspected to have abused his daughter during one such visit on January 13, 2013.

According to Pushpa Devi, mother of Purshottam, Sunil had visited her house on January 13 and took his daughter with him for one day. She said after the girl returned home on January 14 she fell ill. “After waiting for a few days when their was no improvement in her condition I decided to consult doctors and shifted her to the sub-district hospital,” she said. It is there that the doctors advised her to shift the patient to Jammu.

Portland police accuse father of physically abusing his 8-month-old daughter

A 29-year-old Portland father is in custody, accused of physically abusing his 8-month-old daughter and delaying her emergency medical care.

Portland police arrested Juan Ruiz-Piza Thursday night.

He's accused of second-degree assault and two counts of first-degree criminal treatment.

Authorities said Ruiz-Piza and his wife brought their daughter to a local hospital on Jan. 20, saying she'd been lethargic and was vomiting.

A physician who treated the infant found she suffered a serious head injury and noticed bruising on the girl's legs and ear.

The physician alerted Portland police.

The doctor told police it appeared the infant had been violently shaken, which caused bleeding on the surface of her brain, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court Friday.

In an initial interview with police, Ruiz-Piza said he found the baby suffering after he had returned home after spending the weekend away.

Two days later, he admitted to police that he had gotten frustrated by the girl's crying, and picked her up with a really strong grip and shook her, the affidavit says.

The infant's breathing immediately became very shallow. Her dad told police he thought she might die so he tried to revive her by putting water on her face, and blowing on her face.

He did not take the girl to the hospital for several hours, "because he hoped she would just return to normal," the affidavit says.

Ruiz-Piza is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center on total bail of $260,000. A federal immigration hold has also been placed on him.

Virginia Father Charged With Toddler's Murder

By MATTHEW BARAKAT | Saturday, Jan 26, 2013 | Updated 6:56 PM ESTView

A Manassas man was charged Friday with murdering his 15-month-old son after medical examiners determined that the boy drowned.

Manassas City Police arrested Joaquin Shadow Rams, 40, and charged him with first-degree murder for the Oct. 20 death of Prince McLeod Rams.

At the time, the toddler had been on a court-ordered, unsupervised visit with his father.

The boy's mother, Hera McLeod, had fought unsuccessfully against unsupervised visitation, worrying that her son would be in danger.

Rams' arrest came after medical examiners determined that Prince Rams died of drowning. Prince William Commonwealth's Attorney Paul Ebert also said the father had taken out multiple life insurance policies on his son.

The boy's death has also prompted further investigation of the 2008 death of Joaquin Rams' mother and the unsolved 2003 shooting death of his ex-girlfriend.

Rams is in custody and expected to be arraigned on Monday, Ebert said. Rams' lawyer did not immediately return a call Friday seeking comment.

McLeod -- an intelligence analyst who had previously been a contestant with her father on the CBS reality show “The Amazing Race” -- said she was relieved when she learned of her former fiancĂ©’s arrest.

“I've spent the last two years, and especially the last four months, terrified,” McLeod said, worried that her own life was in danger. For a time, she had moved out of state out of concern for her safety.

On a blog she has maintained since her son's death, McLeod wrote Friday that she is still angry at the authorities who ignored her concerns for Prince's safety and granted Rams unsupervised visitation

“Had the justice system been there for us before now, my son would be here to celebrate this moment with me,” she wrote. “I am not sure that I will ever be able to forgive my country for the terrible injustices that led to the death of my son. I am not sure if I will ever forgive myself for following the law and waiting for justice my son would not live long enough to see.”

“The unfortunate thing is this could have been prevented,” she said in a phone interview

Cops: 12-year-old son begged dad to quit making meth inside home (La Porte, Indiana)

Is there a mother in this home? None is mentioned, and it doesn't seem like it. Otherwise, I imagine she'd be brought up on some sort of charges too. In fact, it sure sounds like dad ADAM TENER is custodial. If so, how and why did a meth head daddy get custody? Who gave him custody? And what happened to the boy's mother?

And why does the media refuse the explain the custodial situations and decisions that put children in danger?

Cops: Boy begged father to quit making meth inside home

A La Porte boy begged his father to stop but methamphetamine, with its toxic vapors, continued to be manufactured inside their home.

That's the picture drawn from allegations filed in La Porte Circuit Court against 32-year-old Adam Tener, who is charged with Class C felony neglect of a dependent and Class D felony maintaining a common nuisance.

According to court documents, the La Porte Metro Operations Unit on Sunday was called to a mobile home owned by Tener at 1083 E. Ind. 2 on a report about a possible meth lab in the home in which a child was present.

Officers discovered evidence of a meth lab, along with methamphetamine and other drugs, as a 12-year-old boy sat on a living room sofa playing video games.

There also was strong chemical odor inside the home and evidence that meth had last been cooked in the home the previous night.

Information released after Tener's court appearance indicates meth was being made inside the home since mid-November.

Tener told investigators he was involved in making meth but had not actually cooked it recently.

He said Sebrina Hutson was doing most of the cooking lately and he was only assisting in the most recent batches, according to court documents.

Hutson, 25, was also arraigned Friday on counts including dealing and possession of methamphetamine, both Class B felonies.

Police said the meth was being made with chemicals and other ingredients reacting together inside bottles found in a bathtub.

Tener also told investigators his son ''has been begging him for some time now to stop what he has been doing along with Sebrina,'' according to court documents.

The boy was taken to the hospital for an evaluation due to the chemical odors and Child Protective Services was contacted.

Police said evidence also was gathered that indicated meth was being sold from the residence.

Hutson told investigators she sold about half of the meth that was being made while the remainder she kept for personal use, court records disclosed.

Dad convicted of "child abuse" in death of 4-month-old daughter; had blamed 2-year-old daughter for baby's fatal head injuries (Gresham, Nebraska)

Why is it when a father kills the baby, it's called "child abuse" and not "murder"? If this guy had been out on the street and had bashed in some other adult male's head, it would be murder, right? But it's not as bad as when it's just a 4-month-old baby? That's repulsive thinking in my book.

Also, was there a mother in this home? Sure doesn't sound like it. Was this guy the "primary caretaker"? What?

Dad Who Blamed 2-Year-Old For Baby's Injuries Convicted Of Abuse

A Gresham, Nebraska man was found guilty Friday of child abuse resulting in the death of his infant daughter.

Attorney General Jon Bruning says 31-year-old Ryan Kozisek was convicted by a York County jury for the death of his 4-month-old daughter Kayley, who died at an Omaha hospital on January 25, 2011, a day after Kozisek called 911 and said she wasn't breathing.

Kozisek told emergency crews that his 2-year-old daughter accidentally fell off a stepping stool and onto the baby. A doctor told investigators the baby's multiple injuries, including severe hemorrhaging and brain trauma, could not have been caused by a 2-year-old.

Dad charged with "child endangerment" for newborn son with fractured skull and ribs and now blind (New York, New York)

Frankly, I don't believe for one second that Daddy "dropped" the baby. Even newborns don't generally get a fractured skull and three broken ribs from being dropped after a bath. These are the injuries generally seen when babies are shaken and THROWN. And it's ABUSERS who generally fail to get medical help, not concerned parents after an accident.

Notice who is missing from this story. THE MOTHER. The baby suffered for three long days until Daddy decided to get medical help. Where was the mother? Not one word about her either way.

IS THIS A SINGLE FATHER? Did he have sole custody of a newborn? WHY?

Recco Dudley told investigators he dropped his son, Royalty, after giving him a bath, but didn't take him to the hospital. Dudley finally took him to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where doctors said the child had a fractured skull, was bleeding in his brain, had fractured ribs and retinal hemorrhaging, which left him blind.

A Harlem newborn will never see again because his negligent rapper dad dropped him — but didn’t take the boy to the doctor for three days, prosecutors say.

Recco Dudley, 26, told investigators he dropped his 6-week-old son, Royalty, after taking him out of a bath inside his Harlem River Drive apartment on Dec. 1, prosecutors said.

Royalty’s head struck the crib and became wedged between the crib and the bed, court records show. Dudley, a deejay and rapper for the group “The Gents,” picked up his child but didn’t seek medical attention, cops said.

Three days later, he took his injured child to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where doctors said Royalty was suffering from a fractured skull, bleeding in the brain, three fractured ribs and retinal hemorrhaging — an injury that left the boy permanently blind, according to court records.

The newborn is still at Columbia Presbyterian, family members told the Daily News. Dudley took his child to the hospital because Royalty was constantly crying, although no one knew why, they said.

Police charged Dudley with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child Thursday. He was held on $50,000 bail Friday. His attorney couldn’t be reached.

Dudley’s family said the father of two would never hurt his child. Cousin Roger Rawson said he was stunned by the allegations.

“This is all based on a statement that he made that maybe he dropped the baby,” said Rawson, holding up a picture of Dudley and Royalty taken at the hospital two weeks ago. “Why would they let him hold and kiss his child if he had done this?”

Dad found guilty in scalding death of 2-year-old daughter (Tarrant County, Texas)

Jurors find father guilty in toddler's scalding death

Jan 24, 2013 12:53 p.m.

A Tarrant County jury deliberated for about an hour before finding a 27-year-old man guilty in the felony murder of his 2-year-old daughter.

Charles Delona Bellamy II could get life in prison for the March 2011 death of Jazmine Howard.

Prosecutors say Bellamy held the child in a scalding tub of water as punishment for wetting her pants. Bellamy claimed he put the baby in the water, but then passed out drunk. When he awoke, he says he discovered the girl dead.

Bellamy then picked up his girlfriend, the child's mother, from work and told her Jazmine was at the hospital. The mother says her baby's body was actually in the trunk of the car.

Witnesses during the trial testified that Jazmine had immersion burns on her legs, and showed signs of a struggle. Bellamy testified the child had soiled herself before and he never lost his temper.

The punishment phase will be next in the trial.

Dad convicted of 1st-degree murder of 2-year-old son during visitation (St. Louis, Missouri)

St. Louis man convicted of beating 2-year-old son to death

2013-01-25T12:00:00Z 2013-01-25T17:04:08Z

ST. LOUIS • Amanda Newman’s last interaction with her smiling, happy-go-lucky son was on Christmas day 2010.

As she dropped 2-year-old Kyle Lucy off at his father’s house for a couple days’ stay, “He was fine. He was perfect,” she said on a court witness stand this week. Kyle was eager to show off presents he had opened at her house, and to start on round two.

He never got more than a day with those gifts.

When Newman saw her son next, he was lying in a hospital bed, kept alive only by machines. After conversations with doctors, Newman made the tough decision to take Kyle off life support.

According to prosecutors, the boy’s father, Aaron Lucy, 32, brutally beat his son that Dec. 26, leaving bruises and scrapes on almost every surface of his young body and causing two skull fractures and a fatal brain injury.

On Friday, a St. Louis Circuit Court jury held him responsible, convicting Lucy of first-degree murder and four other felony counts after about six hours of deliberation. Charges in the two-day trial included tampering with evidence, for a shower Lucy took to clean himself of Kyle’s blood despite orders from authorities who responded to his apartment, on the 6900 block of Chippewa Street, after he called for help.

Assistant Circuit Attorney Christine Krug told jurors that nobody knows exactly how the events unfolded. But, she said, “We know Kyle was perfectly fine when he was left with his father. We know he sustained a horrible beating, and we know he died because of that beating.”

According to testimony, Kyle and his 4-year-old sister spent two days at their father’s apartment and that of Lucy’s parents. But for several afternoon and evening hours on Dec. 26, 2010, father and son were left alone for “quality time” while the others went to a Christmas play.

Lucy’s public defender, Courtney Harness, ceded her client’s guilt for the fatal beating but argued it wasn’t the deliberate act of first-degree murder. She described a father who didn’t know how to handle his crying son, who tried several times to get a neighbor’s help, and who finally lost it.

“There’s no evidence he wanted his son to die, in fact, there’s evidence to the contrary,” she said, pointing to testimony that Lucy was sobbing and sought help in calling 911.

Harness also pointed out that Michael Graham, the city’s chief medical examiner, testified the injuries could have been inflicted in just a couple minutes.

But Krug reminded jurors of the extent of Kyle’s injuries, including various bruising patterns that suggested he had been hit with or against different objects. Blood was spread throughout the apartment, including on the back of a picture frame and a shattered drawer, which had been strewn across the floor along with an overturned TV.

During closing arguments, Krug paused for two minutes of silence that seemed longer. It was punctuated by soft sobbing from Kyle’s family.

“You just experienced a couple minutes,” Krug told jurors. “Now imagine little Kyle being beaten by his father, a man four times his size, (during that time) and you want to tell me there’s no deliberation?”

Newman, 29, told a somber jury about her child, “a very happy little boy” who was potty-training and starting to talk. Later, to a reporter, she talked of how he liked SpongeBob SquarePants and Thomas the Tank Engine. He was full of spunk, and smart for his two years. And he loved food.

He’d crawl into bed with his grandfather, who kept a can of nuts on the night table. When Kyle only got one nut, he’d hold up five fingers asking for more.

Once, Newman said, she caught Kyle with the remnants of thin mints smeared across his face.

As she started to gently scold him for sneaking the treats, he held one out as if to share, and innocently asked: “cookie?” As to Lucy, Newman said: “Our hope is that he never gets out.”

A father has been charged with pointing an AK-47 at his 15-year-old daughter because she only got a B on her schoolwork, it was revealed today.

Kirill Bartashevitch, 52, allegedly pointed the deadly weapon at the girl, who is unidentified, in anger that she wasn't getting straight As in high school, according to MyFox9.

The teenager texted a friend from Central High School, St Paul, Minnesota to tell her about the confrontation on January 17 and the friend's mother called social services, the report said.

Bartashevitch had just recently bought two of the assault rifles from Bill's Gunshop in the town, in fear they would be outlawed under government gun control legislation.

He then allegedly used one of the weapons in the row with his child.

His daughter told him she 'hated' him when he confronted her about her grades and then swore at him.

He allegedly pointed the gun at her in anger, according to the report, and when his wife stepped in between them he pushed her to the ground and allegedly pointed the gun at them both.

He then sent his daughter to her bedroom.

The girl then texted a male friend whose mother went to the school's social worker who then contacted the police.

When arrested by police, Bartashevitch admitted to the confrontation but said the gun wasn't loaded.

His daughter also told her friend she wasn't scared because she knew he hadn't loaded the gun.

Bartashevitch was charged today at Ramsey County District Court with two counts of terroristic threats for pointing the gun.

His bail conditions stipulate he is to have no contact with his daughter or wife.

He could face a maximum for five years for each count he faces.

A Camden County father has been charged with critically injuring his 11-year-old daughter after he allegedly shot her in the face, according to police. \

Investigators say it happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday when Byaer Johnson, 27, allegedly went to visit the little girl at her home on the 1300 block of Thurman Street in Camden.

Police say Johnson suddenly pulled out a handgun and placed it on the floor. When he was asked to leave, investigators say Johnson allegedly picked up the gun and shot the child in the face.

Police say Johnson then allegedly pointed the gun at another man in the home and pulled the trigger, but the weapon jammed. Investigators say the 28-year-old man wrestled with Johnson, moved the gun away from him, and hit him several times. Police say the man then fired the gun at Johnson striking him in the buttocks. Police found Johnson running toward the Ivy Hill apartment complex in Camden and took him into custody. He is charged with Criminal Attempted Murder and other weapons offenses.

The 11-year-old is in critical but stable condition at Cooper Medical Center but authorities say she could suffer paralysis as a result of her injuries.

Police say the 28-year-old man who wrestled the gun away from Johnson is not expected to be charged.

Pa. dad sentenced for son’s accidental gun death

The Associated Press Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 | 2:19 p.m.

A Philadelphia drug dealer whose young son fatally shot himself with a gun that had been hidden in a sofa has been sentenced to nine to 18 years in prison.

Twenty-six-year-old Javier Merle apologized to his family and in-laws at his sentencing on Thursday.

Prosecutors say Merle had stashed heroin and a loaded 9mm pistol in the couch at his Kensington home. Four-year-old Javier Merle Jr. found the gun in July 2011 after his father went outside during a dispute with neighbors.

Merle pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and drug charges in August.

Merle's attorney says the boy's death has torn the family apart. But the judge reprimanded relatives for tolerating Merle's drug-dealing

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT. What happened to the mother of these kids? Notice that we have mention of the "girlfriend" and that the kids that were shot are now in foster care.

So was KEVIN ROBERT VENIA a custodial dad? If so, how did he get custody and who gave it to him?

Burney father sentenced to prison for child endangerment

By Jim Schultz

Posted January 23, 2013 at 5:48 p.m.

A Burney man whose two young children were severely hurt Nov. 12 by an accidental shotgun blast at their home was sentenced Wednesday to eight years in prison after he pleaded no contest to child endangerment-abuse charges.

Kevin Robert Venia, 29, must serve 50 percent of his prison sentence before being eligible for parole.

Venia, who was scheduled to begin standing trial early next month, faced about 10- to- 11 years in prison had he been convicted of the charges against him, a prosecutor said.

Venia, who also pleaded no contest to a felony count of criminal storage of a firearm, was arrested after his then 5-year-old son accidentally shot his 2-year-old brother and 4-year-old sister with a loaded sawed-off shotgun their father had left within easy reach on a living room ottoman.

But Senior Deputy Public Defender Max Ruffcorn Sr., noting his client was charged with child abuse, stressed Venia never struck or hit his children.

"It's more of a criminal negligence case," he said, adding that Venia has taken responsibility for the accident. "He's as mortified as everyone else."

Sheriff's deputies have said Venia's 2-year-old son's leg was nearly severed by the shotgun blast, and his daughter suffered wounds to her hand, arm and thigh.

Ruffcorn said both children are out of the hospital and continuing to recover from their wounds, adding that doctors were able to save the boy's leg.

All three of the children have been placed in foster care, Ruffcorn said, and Venia will be losing his parental rights.

"That's inevitable," he said.

Shasta County sheriff's deputy Jason Thatcher, who testified last year at Venia's preliminary hearing, said the Burney man was standing outside the home when he heard what he thought was a gunshot.

But, Thatcher said, Venia told him he had "no idea" how the children were injured and denied having a shotgun in the house, even though two family members later contradicted that statement.

Venia's half-brother, Ridge Gigax, has told detectives he saw Venia with the shotgun only minutes before he heard the blast, while Venia's girlfriend, Rose Williams, said the couple had argued about having a shotgun in the house only a few days before the shooting.

Deadbeat dad charged with strangling 12-year-old son to death with electrical cable (United Arab Emirates)

UNNAMED DAD was "unemployed" and a "recovering" drug addict and alcoholic. Seems this overachiever also freaked out and beat his 12-year-old son to death for failing a school exam.

What's not to love here? Loser dad all the way.

Notice that Mom tried to get him to stop, but couldn't. Unfortunately, moms are still held accountable for the father's violence regardless. It's as if they are supposed to have superhuman powers to stop violent, enraged men. We wish....

UAE father 'strangled son to death over failed exam results', police say

Nadeem Hanif Jan 24, 2013

ABU DHABI // A father suspected of strangling his 12-year-old son to death with an electrical cable after he failed his school exams has handed himself in to police.

Officers said the man, an unemployed Emirati in his 30s, is a recovering drug addict and alcoholic.

He is accused of beating his son with the cable for 15 minutes, despite the child's mother pleading with him to stop.

"The mother was in a different room when the father was beating his son in the majlis," said Lt Col Jumaa Al Kaabi, of Abu Dhabi CID. "When she saw them she kept begging him to stop but he did not listen."

When the boy lost consciousness his parents took him to hospital, but the father fled when alarmed doctors notified police.

"The father was hiding out somewhere," said Lt Col Al Kaabi. "The grandfather went to police and they told him to bring his son in. He said his son would come by himself – they said if he didn't do so they would bring him in anyway."

The father was arrested after going to the police station of his own accord.

Lt Col Al Kaabi said the father admitted beating the boy during interrogation and had expressed regret for the attack, which took place on January 16.

The boy has three sisters and was the eldest of five brothers.

The case has been referred to the Criminal Court.

Dad arrested for leaving 2-year-old in car while he hit the casino (Sacramento, California)

Whoa. Is this a custodial dad? If not, what happened to Mom? Why is the little girl now in the custody of CPS if Mom wasn't off gambling and abandoning a toddler in the car?

A man was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment after allegedly leaving his 2-year-old daughter in a car for more than an hour while he was inside a casino really early Wednesday morning.

At 1:41 a.m., on the 6000 block of Stockton Boulevard, police officers were hailed by a security guard who noticed movement in a parked vehicle in the area. Upon investigation, police found a girl, 2, unharmed, who'd apparently been left in the vehicle for more than an hour.

Her father, Joseph Paiva, 25, was found at a nearby business – the Lotus Casino – and arrested on suspicion of felony child endangerment. The girl was placed into the custody of child protective services.

Leola father charged in 4-month-old son’s death

Investigators collected key pieces of evidence from 462 Brendon Drive in Leola Thursday.

It’s the trailer where East Lampeter Township police said Jesus Manuel Lasanta admitted to yanking his 4-month-old son Nazareth from a bouncy seat, hitting him across the chest and then slamming him onto a mattress on January 13.

The baby died three days later at Hershey Medical Center.

“Extremely sad news for us to be here yet again, on another infant homicide,” said Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman. “It’s becoming all too common.”

This is the fourth case in recent months in Lancaster County of parents or caretakers being charged with severely beating or killing very young children.

“We just hope it stops and again there’s just absolutely no excuse for any of this stuff,” Stedman said. “Obviously being a parent is stressful, but there’s never a reason for this and there’s so many other options.”

Some at the home declined to comment, but neighbors FOX43 spoke to said the whole situation is just very sad.

“It’s frustrating, to hear it,” said one neighbor who declined to be identified. “I mean, it’s a baby, they can’t defend themselves. And it’s, it’s terrible.”

Investigators said Lasanta got into an argument with someone before abusing his son.

“Shaking a baby like that, no, only four months old, he shouldn’t even be a parent,” added the neighbor.

The child’s mother and another person were home when it happened, but they have not been charged.

Lasanta is in the Lancaster County prison on no bond. He is charged with criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of a child.

Divorcing dad charged in shooting death of 4-year-old son (Akron, Ohio)

We've posted on this story before. Even then, I thought that something didn't smell right. That this was a mighty peculiar "accident." Turns out that other family members have the same suspicions.

Notice that Daddy was a convicted felon who wasn't supposed to have guns around. And that Mom had urged Dad to get rid of his guns before, as he was apparently very careless with them. And that the parents were divorcing.

Hmm.

Dad is identified as TERRANCE ALLEN.

Akron man charged in fatal shooting of son, 4

Jamarcus Allen was a typical 4-year-old boy. He was a ball of energy, loved superheroes and had a curiosity about guns.

Just last week, his mother said, Jamarcus found his father’s pistol when it was supposed to be hidden in a bathroom of their Akron home. Jamella Allen said she scolded Jamarcus and demanded that her husband get rid of the gun.

On Wednesday morning, it appears that same gun was fired, the bullet piercing the head of Jamarcus. He died at Akron Children’s Hospital.

Jamella Allen, 42, spoke Wednesday afternoon, just hours after learning her son was dead.

She recounted the gun story and how she demanded that her husband take the firearm from the house. Now, she is left mourning and wondering why and how her son died.

“I don’t know. I’m going crazy wondering what happened,” Jamella Allen said.

Police have charged the boy’s father, Terrance Allen, with involuntary manslaughter, felony child endangering, having weapons under disability and tampering with evidence.

Terrance Allen, 49, was driving a Ford Taurus at South Arlington Street and Davies Avenue when he suddenly pulled over. Police said he waved down a Summit County sheriff’s deputy who happened to be driving nearby about 9:30 a.m. A witness said he saw the father on the ground with the boy on his chest.

“The cop approached the vehicle and the guy just laid on the ground and he had a child in his arms,” said Robert Leslie, who noticed the commotion while working at Monro Muffler on South Arlington Street. “He was talking to the guy, I don’t know what he was asking him, and then all of a sudden, the officer finally yanked really hard, grabbed the [boy] and ran to the ambulance and the ambulance just took off like crazy.”

Jamarcus was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m. at Akron Children’s Hospital.

A bullet hole through the roof of the car was clearly visible. The hole was above the rear passenger seat, where a pool of blood could be seen. It appears the bullet was fired inside the sedan and exited through the roof.

Police Lt. Rick Edwards said investigators recovered a gun inside the man’s sedan.

“It appears the child got ahold of the gun and shot accidentally inside the car,” Edwards said.

Jamella and Terrance Allen were in the midst of a divorce, but still lived together in a McKinley Avenue home with her 18-year-old son, Tyree Ruggs.

Just last week, Terrance Allen filed court papers in Summit County Domestic Relations Court asking for a continuance of his divorce case. He wrote in a motion to the court that he and Jamella were back together and trying to work out their differences. The couple had been together about 11 years.

On Wednesday morning, relatives said Terrance Allen drove the older boy to classes at Garfield High School. Jamarcus went along for the ride. The shooting occurred sometime after they left Garfield High. Jamella Allen said she learned about her husband’s gun last summer. He told her it was a laser gun, not a pistol, and he said he bought it at a gun show.

Nonetheless, she said, she urged him to get the gun out of the house and believed he had.

According to police and court records, Terrance Allen has a prior felony burglary conviction in Cuyahoga County, which bars him from carrying or owning a firearm.

But last week, Jamella Allen said she was upstairs sitting in a bedroom, when her older son came in and said he just took the pistol from Jamarcus’ hand.

The younger boy had apparently found the gun, which was supposed to have been hidden inside a bathroom wall, the family said.

Again, the mother said, she demanded the gun be taken out of the house.

“Jamarcus was a child, he liked guns,” Jamella Allen said. “But he didn’t know it was real.”

Jamella Allen said she is left with questions and only memories of her youngest son. “Jamarcus wouldn’t stop. He was so full of life,” she said. “The only way he would stop was when he would fall asleep. That’s the only thing that would slow him down. I love him to death. He would say, ‘I love you, Mommy’ all the time. He was a fun-loving little boy and now he’s gone.”

Aside from Batman and Spider-Man, Jamarcus loved football. And family members say he was eager to start kindergarten next fall. Most days, they said, he could be found playing with his 2-year-old cousin, Aniyah.

The girl’s mother, Jasmine Palmer, said Jamarcus and her daughter were almost inseparable playmates.

She doubts the boy could have shot himself.

“I just don’t believe that,” she said Wednesday. “My little cousin wouldn’t pick up a gun and shoot himself. He knows better.”

The boy’s grandmother, Shirley Colvin, said Jamarcus was full of life and love. It’s a loss for her family and the Akron community, she said.

“Jamarcus was a beautiful person. He was so sweet,” she said. “I just loved him and he loved everybody.”

1 infant dead, 1 injured; father facing child abuse charges

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- The death of a 7-week-old infant coupled with the injury of the twin sibling the following day led investigators to arrest a Huntersville man on two counts of child abuse.

Huntersville Police responded to the home of 25-year-old Cory Allen Geisler in the 7500 block of Rolling Meadows lane last Thursday in reference to an unresponsive infant.

Officials pronounced the infant dead shortly after arriving at the scene. Through the course of the investigation, authorities determined the 7-week-old infant was the victim of abuse, and the autopsy revealed the child had serious injuries unrelated to the cause of death.

The next day, Friday, January 18, Huntersville Police responded to a pediatrician's office for injuries to the deceased infant's twin sibling. The living injured twin infant was taken to Presbyterian Hemby Children's Emergency Department in Charlotte for treatment for serious injuries. Officials determined that this child, too, was the victim of abuse.

On Sunday, Geisler, the biological father of the twins, was placed under arrest on one count of child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury in relation to the injured living infant.

On Wednesday, officials charged Geisler with an additional count of child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury for the deceased infant.

The investigation continues, and anyone with information is asked to contact Huntersville Police Deputy Chief Michael Kee at (704) 464-5400.
